Protests are expected Friday following the sentencing of Johannes Mesherle, a former BART security officer who was convicted in the 2009 shooting death of passenger Oscar Grant. Mesherle had alleged during his trial that he mistakenly fired his handgun instead of taser while attempting to subdue a confrontational Grant. Mesherle was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter earlier this year.
